Red Deer RCMP – Heavy police presence at incident – Update - Homicide

The Red Deer RCMP remain on scene in the area of 38 Avenue and 45 Street in what has been determined to be a homicide.

At 4:42 a.m. today, the RCMP responded to a 911 call, and located a deceased adult male on the road. The male is the victim of a gunshot wound. The Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has been deployed to take carriage of the investigation.

The area remains closed to vehicle traffic while the RCMP conduct an extensive scene examination.

Evidence gathered on scene has led the RCMP to believe that this is an isolated incident, and there is no risk to public safety.

Residents in the area who may have seen or heard anything suspicious are asked to call Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575. The Red Deer RCMP are asking the public to avoid the area of 38 Avenue and 45 Street. Due to what is believed to be a targeted incident, the area has been contained, and no vehicles or pedestrian traffic will be allowed in.

There is no evidence to suggest that there is a public safety concern.
