Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate suspicious deaths in Coaldale

On June 3, 2021, Coaldale RCMP conducted a wellbeing check on a residence in Coaldale as the neighbors hadn't seen any activity in a significant amount of time.

Coaldale RCMP attended with a locksmith and upon entry to the residence, officers located the occupants of the home, an adult male and female, in a state of decomposition. As a result of further investigation, the circumstances are believed to be suspicious.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of the investigation with the assistance of the Coaldale RCMP. The RCMP Forensic Identification Services Unit was also called in to investigate.

This incident is believed to be isolated, and there is no danger to the public.

The autopsies will take place next week at the Calgary Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate these suspicious deaths.
